The song by DKP is available here:

but it seems to be available only to US residents. Maybe someone in US can listen and write down the words.

Some words are not clear even after listening a couple of times. Here is a first go. Somebody else can fill in where "??????"appear. Two words are needed there.
P: ADu rATTE! ADu rATTE! ADu rATTE suzhanRADu rATTE!
suzhanRu suzhanRu suzhanRADurATTE!
ini suyarAjyam vandadenRu ADu rATTE!
C1: pApam kuRaiyumenRADu rATTE ini bhayangaL maRaindadenRu (maRaiyumenRU) ADu rATTE

tunbamillai sOmbiyavar tUngamATTAr ???????????? enRu solli ADu rATTE
The only missing link is the space with ??? where two words are unintelligible. Somebody else can listen and fill them in.

A few changes to Sub's version (in BOLD) based on what I could make out:
P: ADu rATTE ADu rATTE ADu rATTE suzhanRADu rATTE
suzhanRu suzhanRu suzhanRADurATTE
ini suyarAjyam vandadendru ADu rATTE
C1: pApam kuRaiyumenRADu rATTE ini bhayangaL maRaindadenRu (maRaiyumenRU) ADu rATTE
kOpam kuRaiyumenRADu rATTE nalla guNangaL migundadenRADu rATTE - nalla
C2: paTTaNattu vIdigaLil suRRiyalaindu miga pADupaDum grAmattin pattinip peNgal
ishtamuDan tam kuDisai nizhalirundu Ur(?) izhaitttup pizhaippadenRu ADu rATTE
P: ADu rATTE ADu rATTE ADu rATTE suzhanRADu rATTE
suzhanRu suzhanRu suzhanRADurATTE
ini suyarAjyam vandadendru ADu rATTE
C1: pApam kuRaiyumenRADu rATTE ini bhayangaL maRaindadenRu (maRaiyumenRU) ADu rATTE
kOpam kuRaiyumenRADu rATTE nalla guNangaL migundadenRADu rATTE - nalla

Yes, I wrote down the third line "ini suyarAjyam.." in a corner of the sheet but missed it while transcribing.
There should not be the "nalla" at the end of C1 since it does not connect. No word there.
The C2 second line should start "iTTamuDan" in order to rhyme with (edugai) "paTTaNattu" in the previous line. (ishTam goes as iTTam)
At one point DKP sings it as "inda" guNangaL and immediately following she sings it as "nalla" guNangaL. Same thing with "maRaindadenRu" and "maRaiyumenRu". One is not sure whether tUran repeated those lines with two different words or DKP slipped there.

Sitting out in front of their huts, the village women would wield the rATTai and spin nUl (yarn). so, nUl izhaiththu (?) izhuththu (?).
I find that when an exclamation mark is added, the context is understood better. ADu rATTE!--just as in brOva bhAramA? the question mark makes it clear that you ask a question of (a plea to) RAmA...
By the way, a song full of meaning and national fervor and social consciousness. ThUran's fervor for village self sufficiency and women's emancipation is reflected here. The one phrase, ADu rATTE! (please spin on, wheel!) says it all...

This is a favorite song in my house hold.. Both my kids sing it quite well. I have the recording with me. Please mail me at s_hari@yahoo.com if you are interested. The song is part of Paddati series.

This song had been heard by me in my childhood days when my sisters used to sing. It is not written by Late Periaswami Thooran but by Late Namakkal Kavignar V Ramalingam PiLLai. The words marked as missing should be "Kudi shudhdhappadum". The song has also been rendered by DKP's grand daughter Smt. Nithyashree Mahadevan but she has changed a few words in the original like her grand mother. She has sung it as raagamaalikai. Below I have given the oriiginal and her versions:

Kutty,
A request: I think skris has already stated this: Please do not post lyrics in a regional language exclusively...if you want to post just in one script, please use English transliteration..posting in the language of the composition will limit the participation to only those that know the script..and since (for better or for worse) English is the lingua franca on this forum, I think we should be prepared to sacrifice certain issues with proper pronunciation in the interests of wider participation/appeal, and use English transliteration.

kutty:
It is really a classy song delving into the dream that Bharathi divulged. If the authorship of this song is ascribed to Namakkal kavignar Ramalingam PiLlai, it shows his scholarship. Magnificent concepts in very simple language. The downtrodden deserved the uplift which Bharathi struggled to project during his lifetime. Bharathi challenged VVS Iyer to work for the downtrodden. When VVSIyer told him that they can be taken care of after independence, Bharathi differed with him and said he could not wait.
Anyway, thanks for providing this gem of Namakkal kavignar with the extended version.

Thanks a lot Mahakavi. I have taken it from the collection of poems of the Kavignar. As you said it is really so nice that even a 'paamaran' can understand for whom actually it is meant. The poet has succeeded in his expression. I always enjoy and cherish such simple creations - my favourite among these that cannot be challenged being ThirukkuRal. I strongly feel that our mother tongue Thamizh - though indestructible - will grow only by such creations where everyone is able to understand the language. Here the poet who was also a Congress member has expressed his joy not through his tongue but through his heart which is rare among the present day politicians.
