That was an amazing concert. Sri Govinda Rao was just out of the world. All those present had an experience of a life time. It was just amazing. The renditions of each of the pieces and the manOdarmam were just too good. The svarams in mAyAmALavagauLa were marvellous. The pushpalatikA nerval and svarams were beautiful. The sAvEri AlApanai and swarams were awesome. The svarams in dEvAmrutavarshiNi and sAmA were both fitting and gelled well. The violinst, Smt. Charulatha, was good and gave appropriate replies to the veteran. Sri Murthy was playing very much in tandem with the music and it was a treat to watch these two veterans perform together. Sri Sivaraman also ably assisted in adding effect to the concert.

Arasi, you are quite right. It is not uncommon for people to commence their concert with it, but now it is being sung as the main piece as well (Sanjay in the last season, for example)...mEru samAna is also very popular of late, it seems
It is interesting how certain vintage compositions become trendy.
In any case, this is a Musiri school speciality. I'm sure TKG excelled in it.

Hello 108talas,
I presume M_F was just pulling Bharat's leg in jest as he may possibly be using the word "amazing" in his reviews quite frequently. Notice that the word amazing is in quotes
