May I please have the lyrics, and if possible, the padartha translation to this beautiful kriti? It has been rendered by SP Ramh on MIO.

Sri Jayaram lays the foundation for why he is (or, one should be) indebted to murugan: â€œCan you not think (cintinttu) this (idai) through and understand (uNarAyO), that everything (yAvum) is but the doing (seyalanrO) of murugan (kandan)?â€

Your 'extra' on possibilities in the context of dance adds interest
to your translation.

The last word in the song should be vEl, I think. It joins with 'kandan seyalanRO? vER (vERu) would make him another kandan.

alaivAy is not only tiruchchendUr, it is the ocean too. The place's kAraNAp peyar.
Interesting imagery of the pugazh of kandan as a beacon on the hill. If I am right, the temple sits on the sea shore. Jayaraman gives murugan's pugazh a hill here!

Thank you, Ravi. Arasi, I do believe it is vEl in the recording. When I requested the translation, I wasn't sure how suitable it was for dance. Your insight, Ravi, as always, confirms that it can work! The swaras that SP Ramh sings are kalpana swaras so they cannot really be used for dance as is, but some may be transformed into chittaswaras with a little ingenuity.

I think ,according to the rules of 'sandhi', 'vErkkandan ' is correct. It is not 'vERkkandan'
Also, in the text Lji has given as alaivAyghandavan . I was wondring what it meant till I saw that Ravi has translated as alaivAy ugandavan.

yes, vER kandan. However, in compositions, something which is more malleable to sing is used, grammar takes a back seat in that case!
The same in poetry--contemporary poetry in particular!
