Need meaning of Sanskrit verses

Post by avnipriya »

Could anyone please give me a translation,
the verse seems to talk about mischievous deeds of Lord Ganesha.
Thank you.

If possible please post the lyrics in devanagari.

I think the second word may be"dUro..." and also tava in the second line must be some other word. nava or tara perhaps

Rajani, thank you so much.
I really love your translation.

I have a doubt. Does a word pramoda mean anything about perfume
Or smell of his rut-fluid?

Thank you Avnipriya.

Yes, pramoda also means perfume, though here I would think it means the joy he feels from the shower. Also rut may not be implied here as he is shown as a naughty child.

Just putting it in Devanagari for Rajani-ji 🙂

A couple of typos in the source I think.

Last two lines split as follows:

My attempt at translation 😀:

Neither sun, nor moon, nor fire, illuminates ever anywhere in that moving world.

In the second line, the fourth word should be gaNDa (cheek) and not kantha(neck).

The last two lines mean :
When the world is fully rendered red , neither sun, nor moon, nor fire can shine even a little, anywhere.

The reason for the redness is in the first two lines - Ganesha's ears sway and cause the Sindura on his cheeks to be scattered.

Thank you. Sachi Sir. Your transliteration was very helpful. The J is the symbol for ञ
