Here is a very nice depiction of this tamizh composition of Sri HKMB's (the first tamizh composition of his I'd heard, thanks to Kji/venkatpv about 3 years ago).

I did not understand the connection between karumAri of tiruvErkADu of the preceding viruttam and ponnabalattu nIli of the composition.

I also did not understand the sancAri from around 4:00 minutes of this clip - the story as I see is of the dEvi killing raktabIjan.

Lji, can you please post the lyrics? I'd like to make some sense of this...

I listened to the video. They have not only changed the rAgA to AbhOgi but also some of the words.

Lji - thanks for that prompt response - the lyrics were as I thought they were! But this is what is confusing to me because the sancAri seems to show the dEvi killing raktabIja - and has nothing to do with subduing the supreme being in the world - which is what 'pAruL parabrahmattai aDakkiya' should mean.

It seems as apt as some of the CEra SOzha pANDiya rAjAs appearing in chain mail and sometimes in leather costumes in some old tamizh movies

By the way, what an original approach to describing Sakti by HMB!
