It is spooky VK guessed kadanakuthoohalam which was exactly in my mind when I was composing. I tried to sing it but my voice is failing due to age!
Actually most of our membership don't know how young our srkris is!
He has a long way to go to reach my plateau, but then he is sure to reach far beyond carrying the sweet burden of this Forum.
His name is already etched in golden letters in the History of CM!

Mature years don't mean we all become ripe in our wisdom.
At least, we seem to have the sense to appreciate maturity in the young ones.
You captured Ramakrishnan's qualities in these lines. My favorites: vara vaidyanAtha priyam and bhAshA shAstra pravINam.
I need some explanation on the words where Pavithra comes in--the most essential part of the verse where I want to understand it more than I do now...

Arasi: You are the kuthUhalam starter indeed, with the first poem on this matter.

CML, that is synchronicity indeed. Here is how it transpired in my head. Immediately after seeing the words of your poem, a song played in my head. I knew it is TNS but I did not know exactly what the song and raga were. I was "audiating" a melody in an abstract form. The only thing beyond that is the melody started on a high swara and it came down from there as an avarOhaNa prayOgA. I think the first word ending in priyam is the tigger. It was bugging me the whole day that I could not remember the song.

Then I decided to search for some terms which will jog my memory. Your poem sounded like MD's so I thought I will check any MD song that has the word 'priyam'. Saw the masterpiece kAdambaripriyAyai ( mohanam ), not the song in my head. That is an out-of-this-world masterpiece indeed, so half an hour of Sunday well spent. I even tried to fit your lyrics to that. It was fun but that is one heck of a tough song.

But that was not the song in my head. Then things quickly collapsed ( in a good way ) to the final resolution. First, the word 'guru priyam' occured in my mind immediately followed by 'giri priyam' and then the 'a ha' moment. I then knew that song I was abstractly audiating, including the raga and the full concrete melody of the first line. There was no need after that to search and listen to anything to confirm. It is great that immersing yourself consciously in something related makes the brain remember by making connections and things.

I did not attempt a translation since the verse is quite simple.
But there are hidden elements of beauty.
Pavitra jAyA ArAdhitam has the obvious meaning worshipped/revered by wife Pavithra;
the hidden meaning is appreciated/venerated (ArAdhitam) by the noble/pure-born (pavitrajA)
Again vara VaidyanAthapriyam has the obvious meaning one whose favourite is CVB;
the benedictoty hidden meanng is that he is blessed/favourite of Lord Parameshvara (vaidyanAtha)...

you have beautifully captured the mental process of identifying (forgotten) passages through linking
bits and pieces and above all using the computer.
When I hear a favourite tune my mind races (it has slowed considerably these days ) to identify the raga.
I first cast it into a crude swara pattern (I am no expert like Arun!) which I try to elaborate using the observed note pattern. In that process suddenly a line of lyric flashes in memory, but I still have to place it in a known song. Sometimes I search the lyrics databases to recover the song and hence the raga name. But they are not always useful since the lyrics databases are very inadequate but for well-known vaggeyakaras.. I let go and try after a couple of days, but my subconscious still works on it in the background. Most of the time the song flashes or a related song jumps up and the problem is solved. It is sheer bliss once I figure it out and then I can enjoy the new song (usually a film song (never by ARR ) along with my old favourite..

Now explain 'synchronicity' for me!

I did see the double meaning in VaidyanAtha...
As for Pavithra,I was hoping that your interpretation was going to include 'a mutual appreciation', may be not to the extent of veneration

Another minor point with CML's composition, is I belong to the Bharadwaja and not the Vardhula gotra described.
